Our Process

How We Approach an Enphase Battery Project

Every foothill home has different wiring, panel capacity, and outage priorities. Here's how we get from first call to a working battery system.

01Step 1

Site and Panel Review

We inspect your existing solar array, main panel, and wiring before recommending anything. If the panel is outdated or full, or the array is underperforming, we address that first.

02Step 2

Load and Backup Planning

We identify which circuits matter most during an outage, refrigeration, lighting, internet, medical equipment, and where relevant, well-pump starting loads, then size the battery around those needs.

03Step 3

Design and Permitting

We design the system layout, prepare permit paperwork, and manage PG&E interconnection so the project meets local and utility requirements before installation begins.

04Step 4

Installation and System Setup

Our electricians install the IQ Batteries and System Controller, connect them to your solar array or new microinverters, and configure monitoring through the Enphase app.

05Step 5

Testing and Walkthrough

We test backup switching and essential load coverage, then walk you through monitoring and what to expect during an actual outage.

Frequently asked

Enphase Battery Installation Questions

Get clear answers about enphase battery installation, preparation, timing, maintenance, and what to expect before requesting an estimate.

Q1

Can I add more battery capacity later?

Yes. Enphase IQ Batteries are modular, so you can start with fewer units and add more later as your budget or outage priorities change, provided your panel and system have room for the expansion.

Q2

Do I need existing Enphase solar for this to work?

No. Enphase batteries work well with homes that already run Enphase microinverters, but we also evaluate compatibility for homes with other solar brands and recommend an alternative option if that's a better fit.

Q3

Will my solar keep working during a power outage?

Solar paired with an Enphase battery and System Controller can continue powering selected circuits during an outage. Exact coverage depends on battery size and which loads you prioritize, which we work out during planning.

Q4

How does Enphase compare to Tesla Powerwall?

Both offer battery backup, but Enphase uses a modular, microinverter-based design while Powerwall is a single larger unit. We install both and can help you compare based on your home's solar setup and backup goals.

Q5

Can a battery keep my well pump running?

It depends on your well pump's starting load and the battery capacity installed. We evaluate actual pump specs before installation since well pumps often draw more power at startup than expected.

Q6

Do you handle permits and the PG&E interconnection process?

Yes, we manage the permitting paperwork and PG&E interconnection application as part of the installation project, so you're not coordinating that separately.

Q7

What if my current solar system or panel isn't up to the job?

We check your existing array and main panel before recommending a battery. If the array is underperforming or the panel is outdated or at capacity, we address that first so the battery system performs as intended.

Q8

What can I realistically expect the battery to back up?

Backup coverage is customized per home. We size the system around loads you choose, such as refrigeration, lighting, internet, or medical equipment, rather than promising whole-home backup upfront.

Plan Your Enphase Battery System

Tell us about your home, your solar setup, and what you want backed up during an outage. We'll review your panel and array before recommending a system.
