At King Electric and Solar, we don’t just install off-grid. We live it.
Daryl King has lived off-grid with his wife for over 30 years and has raised his children (One of which is the current owner of King Electric and Solar)
His home was designed to be off-grid and has been powered by 13X 12V solar panels and 15kwh of lead acid batteries. The system was enough to get by, but he still ran certain loads off of his cummins generator. Mainly, he ran his generator to top off batteries or to provide 240V power for his well pump which he uses to fill a 6000 gallon tank for irrigation and house water.
In the past he’s had to go out to his generator shed, manually turn on his generator and then watch how much water is in the tank, eventually manually shutting off the generator.
King Electric and Solar upgraded his system to Sol-ark 12k, 6X homegrid batteries, and 10X 400W panels. With the upgrade to Sol-Ark he is now able to run his 240V pump off the inverter and the inverter automatically starts the generator when batteries get low. Not only does he no longer have to manually start the generator and pump, he also has significantly reduced the generator run-time and saved thousands on yearly fuel costs.
